U.S. agency releases: quality ranking, Weilai surpasses Tesla to become the firs

On June 17, J.D.Power, the world's leading consumer insight and market research organization, released the 2020 China new energy vehicle experience research.

This year is the second year for J.D.Power to release the China new energy vehicle experience research (nevxi), which counts and measures the quality problems encountered by new energy vehicle owners in the two to six-month ownership period. The quality of new cars is expressed by the average number of problems per 100 cars (PP100). The lower the number of problems, the better the quality.

In the new car quality ranking of pure electric vehicle market, the new domestic car making force is coming, but it surpasses Tesla and becomes the first. Weilai automobile has been ranked first for two consecutive years. This also reflects from the side that Weilai automobile, which has a high degree of satisfaction with the owner's brand, has a good strength in vehicle manufacturing technology and vehicle quality control.

China new energy vehicle experience study 2020 (nevxi) is based on the real feedback of 3267 car owners who bought cars from May 2019 to may 2020. The research covers 40 models of 20 brands, and the data collection was conducted in 28 major provinces of China from May 2020 to July 2020. There are 236 problem points in 10 problem categories (configuration / control system / instrument panel, body appearance, interior decoration, infotainment system, seat, driving experience, driving assistance, powertrain, battery / charging and air conditioning).

The research shows that with the rapid development of new energy vehicle market, the quality gap between new energy vehicle brands is gradually widening, the quality of new energy vehicles of international brands is in the leading position, and the quality of new energy vehicles of independent new force brands and traditional independent brands needs to be improved. The study also shows that international brand new energy vehicles are superior to independent new force brands and traditional independent brand new energy vehicles in terms of body appearance, infotainment system, seats, powertrain and body interior, while independent new force brands are superior to traditional independent brands and international brands in terms of driving experience, air conditioning and battery / charging.

Some of the findings of the study include: 1. New energy vehicle owners are younger and more open to brands, and the proportion of new energy vehicle owners after 90s has increased from 24% in 2019 to 37% this year. 2. The most frequent complaint categories of new energy vehicle owners are body appearance (16%), body interior (13%), information and entertainment system (13%) and driving experience (13%). Among them, car odor and tire noise ranked the top two of the top 20 problems in the industry. 3. The number of quality problems of plug-in hybrid vehicle (121 PP100) is lower than that of pure electric vehicle (22 PP100).

4. The average number of problems reported by owners of small pure electric vehicles is 164 PP100, which is much higher than that of compact pure electric vehicles (141 PP100), medium pure electric vehicles (124 PP100) and large pure electric vehicles (116 PP100).

In terms of models, Euler R1 won the first place in the small pure electric market segment; Roewe ei5 won the first place in the compact pure electric market segment; Weilai ES6 won the first place in the medium pure electric market segment; Volkswagen Passat PHEV won the first place in the compact pure electric market segment It won the first place in the mainstream plug-in hybrid market segment; the luxury plug-in hybrid market and large pure electric market segment did not meet the award conditions of the market segment, so there was no award.

2019 is the first year for J.D. Power to release the experience research of new energy vehicles in China. According to the research in that year, the main complaints of new energy vehicle owners were traditional quality problems. The top three types of complaints were interior decoration (16.3 PP100), exterior appearance (15.8 PP100) and driving experience (14.7 PP100).

In 2019, Weilai (67 PP100) and BMW (82 PP100) ranked first and second respectively in new energy vehicle quality. Chery new energy (84 PP100) and GAC motor (84 PP100) tied for third place.
